Quote of the night... "You'd fit right into Pirates of the Caribbean.  You'd be the Pirate's booty."

Despite the fact that this week has been ridiculously rainy and wet, it's been fun to be back.  One of my highlights definitely had to be when half of the elementary school had to book it through the pouring rain from chapel back to class.  I couldn't help but laugh the whole way.  Another highlight... the new bowling alley!  Still another... 76894 5th grade hugs!  Oh, and we can't forget about Yogun Fruz!  The lows of the week would have to be the side-swipe hit-and-run, the expired muffler, the sad transmission, crashing into a concho, and spending our beach day at the police station.  Ah yes, the joys of having a car!

No one ever writes on here anymore!  This is getting ridiculous!  Actually, I shouldn't say no one... b/c there are about 4 of you who are very faithful... so I have been able to keep close tabs on your lives and thoughts!  (Not that I can talk b/c I kinda forget about dear xanga quite often too...)  MySpace has been getting a bit more attention... I've been unfaithful... xanga may be getting replaced...) but not yet.  I like to keep my options open.  (Try not to think too deeply into that one!!  Those of you that know me too well... shoot!)

So, beyond the blog debate... since I'm obviously still pouring my brain and heart out to xanga... This week has been a lot of fun!  After all, it's Christmas!!  Staying up too late all last week and then a bunch of flights zapped too much energy out of me... so then I was trying to survive on caffine... but then I couldn't sleep at night... repeat original problem.  Other than that though... family, friends, home church, old family friends, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, candlelit service, 7 layer bars, waffles, strawberries, presents, carpeting, fire, Alvin and the Chipmunks, mashed potatos, Natalie, Kristy, James, Evan, Kirsten, Lisa, Janessa, shopping, gift cards, compatibility, hot tub, treadmills, bowling, Miriam and Matt, Jana and Justin, Dan and Katie, the "If" book, rock climbing, "ImagineIf", some laughs, some talks, some games, some discussions... even some sleep here and there!  Oh, and Starbucks... lots and lots of Starbucks!  And, in answer to the 584093 people that have asked me this week if I'm staying where I'm at for another year... Yes.  Yes, God has put me in an incredible school, a wonderful job, with some of the best friends ever, in a variety of great ministries, and in a place where I can make a difference... and get 22 hugs every day for payment.  I'm not going to mess with God's plans.  (I know from past experience... it doesn't work.  God's plan is going to win no matter what I do, so I might as well just chill and let Him do His thing.)  As soon as God has another plan... as soon as there is something here to bring me back, then I'll come.  Until then, I'm going to keep loving the sun and loving my kids!

It's things like this that help keep me going as a teacher...

Dear Ms.Bergsma,

I love being in your class. I hope I can be in your class for the rest of my life. You are the coolest teacher in the whole school.

Your Student, Andy

P.S. I hope you never leave school!

It's been an exciting week!  Tons of Christmas preparation... school Christmas dinner, church Christmas dinner, Elementary Christmas music program (they were adorable by the way!), Aventura concert, Christmas shopping with Beth (I'm completely done... and I can't wait to give these all away... I'm so excited!!   I think I got some good ones this year!), some unexpected but exciting happenings, a Young Life Christmas party, and, oh my goodness... WE BOUGHT A CAR TODAY!!!!  That's some serious commitment!  I'm so excited to not have to depend on everyone else for so much of my life!  I can actually go where I want when I want... I might be able to regain a bit of that efficiency that I once knew in the United States.  Speaking of which, one more week... in a week from right now, I'll be in that frozen tundra land.  Yes, I'm excited to see my family and a lot of people... no, I'm not excited for the cold... I genuinely enjoyed chillin' in my bathing suit for a bit today and spending the rest of the day in a tank top.  But, I'm excited to hopefully go snowboarding!  I got to see them fill the ATM machine yesterday... a bunch of security, a bag of money, a series of locks, money all over the floor of the plaza... fasninating!  Hmm... what else?  I love enchiladas!  Beth's just amazing!  I love my roomates.  Nope, I wasn't expecting that one either.  Alessandra is wonderful!  I love my 5th graders!  I'm really enjoying Christmas music!  5B collected and delivered 19 big bags of food for the food drive!  I got some amazing shoes from my secret santa.  y eso muchacho es divertido y me hace pensar mucho... talvez, demasiado mucho.  Y, en serio... yo no se!  Tengo mieda!  Me gusta Yogun Fruz!  Y... yo tengo un carro!  AY!
